Confusion remains about who is responsible for cleaning up a garbage-filled Medaryville property. Robert Dahlquist died over two years ago, but town officials say various items remain in the backyard of his old home, including three trailers, seven vehicles, and an estimated 100 tires.
Winamac Looking to Crack Down on Garbage at Town Dump
People caught leaving garbage in Winamac’s Town Dump will soon face a heavy fine. The site at 200 West and 50 North is designed to give residents a place to leave yard waste, like branches and grass. But people have reportedly been dumping trash there, including building materials, tires, and furniture.

The Pulaski County Commissioners may appoint a new county IT director during this morning’s meeting. They interviewed candidates last month, but decided to hold off on making a choice during their July 3 meeting. Pulaski County’s first full-time IT director, RB Walters, resigned from the position at the end of March.

New State Law Causing Winamac Police Department to Rethink Adding Reserve Officer
The Winamac Police Department has been offered some free help, but a new state law may prevent the town from accepting it. Former Medaryville police officer Sheri Gaillard has volunteered to serve as an unpaid reserve officer in Winamac, according to Town Marshal Mike Buchanan. He told the town council Monday that he liked the idea, for when the department needs an extra person every once in a while.
