N.J.-S.P. Elaborates on Staff Cuts

He says the reductions in personnel include 10 certified teachers, four of whom are general elementary school classroom teachers. Another three are special education teachers, and three more are certified support personnel. Boyd stresses no educational programs will be cut as a result of the reductions. Continue reading

Monterey Official Hopeful Downtown Streets Can Reopen

A new fence around a collapsed building in downtown Monterey should be in place by this evening. Monterey Town Councilman Doug Denton says the Pulaski County Building Inspector advised a chain link-type fence will be placed around the rubble from the former Sportsman’s Lounge at the southeast corner of Main and Walnut Streets. Charbonneau Outlines State Action to Curb Meth Abuse

A local elected representative says Indiana is losing the battle with drugs.

State Senator Ed Charbonneau expanded on some of the steps the Indiana General Assembly is taking to help curb the use of illicit substances in the Hoosier State. Indiana is ranked at the top of the nation for meth-related arrests over the last few years.

Tourism Grant Dollars Earmarked for Rail Line Updates

Hoosier Valley Railroad MuseumThe Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum is the beneficiary of an Indiana Office of Tourism Development matching grant. The agency awarded the Town of North Judson a $31,897 Destination Development Grant.

That money will be used to increase awareness of the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum among leisure travelers and enhance marketing efforts of both the attraction and state tourism. Officials say the Destination Development grant program is intended to help local economies grow by promoting the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. Continue reading
