North Judson Resident Air Lifted to Illinois Hospital Following Home Injury

A resident had to be airlifted to an Illinois hospital after receiving a severe injur at a North Judson home on Wednesday.

According to Town Marshal Kelly Fisher, NJPD, the North Judson-Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department and Starke County EMS all responded to a severe injury call at a residence on George Street around 4 p.m. on January 9th. Driver Reportedly Airlifted Following Sunday Afternoon Crash

Around 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, December 30th, the Starke County Dispatch Center alerted emergency officials of an accident near 1740 S on State Road 39.

Dispatch reports that Starke County Sheriff’s Department, Starke County EMS, the North Judson Police Department and the North Judson-Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.

NJ Police Officers Fine Tune Skills to Move Department Toward Self-Sufficiency

North Judson Town Marshal Kelly Fisher talked with town council members last week about how NJPD is working to achieve self-sufficiency.

She noted, “We’d like to get our department pretty much self-sufficient to where we could do all of our training in-house. We’ve got our training center there at the PD now.”

Students at St. Peter Lutheran School Help Raise Funds for K9 Bullet-Proof Vest

Students at the St. Peter Lutheran School recently held a fundraiser to help purchase a new bullet-proof vest for the North Judson Police Department’s K9 Jimy.

At Monday evening’s Town Council meeting, Town Marshal Kelly Fisher shared that about $630 was raised through the school’s fundraiser. Marshal Fisher, K9 Handler Officer Rico Simpson and his trusty partner Jimy went to the school at the end of November in order to take part in the incentive event that was promised to students. The North Judson Police Department wants to ensure that local women and girls are equipped with the skills necessary to protect themselves in case of an emergency.

North Judson Police Department to Save Big with Glock Buyback Program

With time running out to take part in Glock’s buyback program, North Judson Town Marshal Kelly Fisher discussed the related cost for some new guns with Town Council members this week.

At a meeting back in July, council members gave Marshal Fisher permission to peruse this opportunity which allows the department to trade in their current models that are about 2 decades old and get new ones at a reduced price.

New Full-Time Officer Welcomed North Judson Police Department at Town Council Meeting, Reserve Officers Recommended

North Judson Town Officials and residents welcomed a new full-time officer to the police force during Monday night’s town council meeting.

At their first meeting of the month, town council members approved hiring Officer Jamie Conklin to the force full-time. Town Marshal Kelly Fisher shared a little bit about Officer Conklin.

She told members and meeting attendees, “He’s been through the academy, he’s worked part-time for me for a year and he’s an excellent employee, I’m glad to have him full-time. Prior to working with law enforcement, he had 8 years of active duty with the Navy so we’re definitely happy to have him aboard.” Continue reading
