Tonight’s Festivities in North Judson to Feature Christmas Parade, Tree Lighting and Holiday Movie Screening

Park employees as well as residents and organization representatives in the Town of North Judson have been busy decorating Norwayne Field for the Town’s annual Christmas festivities. It all kicks off at 5:45 p.m. tonight with the parade that will bring Santa Clause into town.

That will be followed by the tree lighting at 6 p.m. Once that wraps up, community members are invited to the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall to meet with Santa and enjoy cookies and cocoa.

Following the Santa visit, there will be a screening of Polar Express at the Heartland Christian Center.

Skateboarding at Norwayne Field Addressed During NJ Town Council Meeting

The North Judson Town Council addressed the topic of skateboarding when they met for their first meeting of the month on Monday.

Former Clerk-Treasurer Donna Henry informed council members that she’s noticed some wear and tear on the performance stage that was unveiled last May and felt that skateboarding and other misdirected recreational activities could be to blame.

North Judson Town Council Covers Preliminary Cost Estimate for Norwayne Field Splash Pad

North Judson Town Council members held a preliminary discussion about financing for the proposed splash pad installation at Norwayne Field when they met on Tuesday.

Since there seems to be a general consensus amongst community members and town representatives that this is a positive project to pursue, Councilman James Young said he’s been coordinating with Bill Smith from Vortex Aquatic Structures about developing a plan.

Councilman Young said he told Smith the Town is looking to spend approximately $60,000 or less for the installation of the recreational water feature.  Continue reading

Splash Pad Talks Continue in North Judson

A representative from Vortex Aquatic Structures came before the North Judson Town Council last week to provide them with a bit more information about the Splash Pad that’s being considered for Norwayne Field.

Vortex Splash Pad Expert Bill Smith talked with the council and stressed the fact that their goal is to build a feature that fits the town’s needs. To address concerns with water usage, Smith noted that play value isn’t dependent on using a lot of water.

Starke County Community Foundation Impact Grant Utilized to Help Save Lives

SCCF Director of Development Sarah Origer Hands Check over to Starke County EMS Director Travis Clary

A recent impact grant awarded by the Starke County Community Foundation is helping local emergency personnel save lives.

Starke County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) used the $14,350 they received from the SCCF to purchase a LUCAS CPR Device, and paid for one year of maintenance for the medical apparatus. The technology performs non-stop CPR, freeing the EMS responder to treat and transport the patient to the emergency room. Continue reading
