State to Provide Computer Equipment to Pulaski County in Preparation for Court Software Switch

Pulaski County is getting some new computer equipment from the state, as part of its switch in court software. Circuit Court Judge Mary Welker told the county commissioners last week that Superior Court Judge Crystal Brucker Kocher has been working hard on the transition to the Odyssey system, and Circuit Court will benefit, as well.

Requests for Additional Help to be Considered by Pulaski County Council Tonight

The Pulaski County Council will consider several departments’ requests for additional help tonight. Prosecutor Dan Murphy has been asking for another full-time secretary, citing a significant increase in the number of cases being filed, along with the addition of new court programs. A vote on the matter ended in a three-to-three tie last month. Council President Jay Sullivan asked the county commissioners to weigh in, but they sent it back to the council without making a formal recommendation.

Pulaski County Commissioners Open Second Round of Bids for Community Crossings Projects

A second round of bidding has resulted in some slightly lower prices for planned paving work in Pulaski County. Plans call for hot mix asphalt work on County Road 550 South west of State Road 39 and County Road 600 South from State Road 119 to Base Road. The county is applying for a Community Crossings grant, to cover 75 percent of the cost.

Pulaski County Commissioners Award Ambulance Bid

The purchase of a new ambulance was approved by the Pulaski County Commissioners Monday. They chose a $129,900 bid from Arrow Manufacturing out of Iowa, at the recommendation of EMS Director Brandon DeLorenzo. “That’s where we’ve gotten our last three,” he explained, “so all the parts that I keep on hand for them, the latches that always break, they’ll fit this truck, as well.”

Pulaski County Building Inspector, Director of Environmental Health Asking for Additional Help

The Pulaski County Commissioners have agreed to support the Building and Health departments’ requests for additional help. Building Inspector Doug Hoover told the commissioners Monday that he’s going to once again ask the county council to move Building Department Assistant Karla Kreamer from part-time to full-time status.

Pulaski County Coroner ‘Tickled to Death’ with New Facilities

After months of work, the Pulaski County coroner’s new morgue and office space is fully up and running. Coroner John Behny gave an update to the county council and commissioners last week, saying the facility is proving to be a good thing. “I just scratch my head. That place is amazing,” he said. “From what we started with just a few weeks ago to now, we’re tickled to death, just tickled to death. So is everybody else that has to come in there.”
