Among those was Francesville Clerk-Treasurer Linda Bennett. “Well, it was a little over two hours,” she says. “There were a lot of questions asked, a lot of answers given. Of course, you don’t know exactly. I mean, you would hope that they are being truthful with you.”
Pulaski County to Hire Attorney to Help Update Wind Turbine Regulations
The Pulaski County Commissioners have agreed to hire an outside attorney to help update the county’s wind turbine regulations, but not before discussing the issue with residents for over an hour Monday. The extra legal help was recommended by County Attorney Kevin Tankersley and Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer.
Pulaski County Commissioners to Discuss Bridge Inspection Contract
A bridge inspection contract will be up for discussion during this morning’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting. Highway Superintendent Terry Ruff and Jeff Larrison with United Consulting are expected to explain the contract proposal for the 2018-through-2021 bridge inspection cycle.

Weekly Farmers’ Markets Planned for Winamac, Francesville
The Pulaski County Farmers’ Market continues to expand. Rather than alternating between Winamac and Francesville each week, a weekly market will be held in both communities this year. “This year, they will be every Saturday in Winamac and every Thursday evening in Downtown Francesville,” Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer told the county commissioners last week. “So they’re expanding the opportunities for the market, and they’ll just be consistently in Winamac on Saturdays.”

Pulaski County Unified Development Ordinance Creates Confusion for Campaign Signs
Campaign sign regulations are causing confusion for Pulaski County candidates. The county’s updated Unified Development Ordinance that took effect at the beginning of the year appears to include some rules for campaign signs, but no one’s entirely sure, according to election board member Laura Bailey. “We have had, in the last 10 days, multiple contacts from concerned citizens, which then went out to various candidates, had all sorts of panic with the candidates because of the Unified Development Ordinance that you guys passed on December 18,” she told the county commissioners Monday. In the past several months, a number of filings have been made with the Federal Aviation Administration for possible wind turbines in the Francesville and Star City areas. County Attorney Kevin Tankersley has been looking into writing an ordinance that would regulate them.

Pulaski Council Considers Raises for Sheriff’s Office, CDC, As Salary Matrix Confusion Continues
Employees in the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and Community Development Commission may soon be getting raises, as the county council tries to resolve issues with the county’s salary matrix. One problem has to do with Sheriff Jeff Richwine’s salary. He told council members Monday that state statute requires his salary to be at least half that of the county prosecutor, but it’s now below that threshold since the prosecutor got a raise last year.
Pulaski County Commissioners Seeking Members for Community Corrections Advisory Board
Cass-Pulaski Community Corrections needs some Pulaski County residents to serve on its advisory board. Pulaski Circuit Court Judge Michael Shurn told the county commissioners last week there are several openings to be filled, in order to reach equal representation from both counties.
Pulaski County Launches Government Facebook Page
Pulaski County residents can now keep up with county government on Facebook. Last week, the county commissioners agreed to let Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer set up a Pulaski County Government Facebook page. “That way, agendas, everything can be shared as soon as they go live on the website, that sort of thing,” Origer explained. “It’s just another way, for no cost other than the two minutes it might take to post something on there, to be more transparent and to communicate with the public better.”
