A police chase in Pulaski and Jasper counties Wednesday morning reportedly led to the arrest of a Kingsford Heights man on drug possession charges. A Pulaski County sheriff’s deputy says he responded to a call about a possible impaired driver around 12:30 a.m. He says he located the vehicle, but instead of stopping, it sped away, before eventually crashing in Jasper County.

Three people were hurt in a crash Wednesday at Starke County Road 300 East and Old U.S. 30. A photograph of the scene showed a damaged pickup truck and minivan off of the roadway. The Starke County Sheriff’s Office says Nellie Arndt, 84, was still trapped in her vehicle when deputies arrived, while Lee Nagai, 55, was out of his vehicle tending to a juvenile passenger with injuries.

A crash on U.S. 35 in rural LaPorte County Wednesday morning sent one person to the hospital. The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 7:20 just south of Schultz Road. Officers believe Rachel Tibbs, 67, of LaPorte, was driving south on U.S. 35 in a 2014 Ford SUV, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway, traveled into a ditch, and overturned, coming to a rest on its roof.

A LaPorte County man was seriously injured in a snowmobile crash early Monday morning. Indiana Conservation Officers say it happened around midnight in a field near Hanna. Investigators believe Charles Zbuka, 38, was riding across the field at about 40 miles per hour, when he crashed into a large ditch.

Star City Woman Airlifted After Crash in Critical Condition
The Star City woman ejected from her vehicle in a crash in Pulaski County over weekend is in critical condition.
Three Injured in LaPorte Accident
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department investigated a two vehicle accident on Johnson Road at the Indiana Toll Road on Tuesday morning.
Deputies were called to the scene at 8:29 a.m. CT where a 31-year-old driver from LaPorte was stopped at the stop sign, entered the intersection and was struck by a pickup truck. The pickup hit the driver’s side of the car, according to police. The driver and her children were transported to IU Health LaPorte Hospital. One child was subsequently airlifted to South Bend Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injures.
Johnson Road between County Road 400 West and County 500 West was closed for two hours while officers reconstructed the accident scene as part of their investigation.
The driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
Accident Victim’s Identity Not Yet Released
A woman involved in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Range Road and State Road 10 in Starke County on Monday morning died of massive blunt force trauma, according to St. Joseph County Deputy Coroner Chuck Hurleus.
The woman’s identity has not been released.
Emergency personnel were called to the scene shortly after 11 a.m. on Monday where Starke County Sheriff’s Deputies police found semi tanker on its side and on fire. A passenger car was located on the side of the roadway, according to the accident report. The driver of the passenger car was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital where she later died of her injuries. The passenger of the vehicle and the semi driver were taken to IU Health Starke Hospital and later transferred to South Bend Memorial Hospital.
One Driver Dies in Two Vehicle Accident in North Judson
A semi vs. passenger car accident at the intersection of State Road 10 and Range Road just east of North Judson Monday morning resulted in fatal injuries.
Officers arrived at the scene shortly after 11 a.m. and found a semi tanker on its side engulfed in flames. The passenger car involved in the accident was located on the side of the roadway, according to the accident report. The driver was airlifted from the scene to South Bend Memorial Hospital where she later died of her injuries. The passenger and the semi driver were taken to IU Health Starke Hospital and later transferred to South Bend Memorial Hospital. Their medical conditions are unknown.
