Pulaski County Council Considers Funding Arrangements for Justice Center Work

Funding for work at the Pulaski County Justice Center will apparently be appropriated one bill at a time. Earlier this month, Maintenance Director Mia Salyers told the county commissioners that the building’s fire alarm upgrades ended up costing $10,000 more than expected and Sheriff Jeff Richwine had offered to cover about $6,700 of that out of his department’s Misdemeanant Fund.

Pulaski County Council Votes to Move Ahead with Funding for West Annex Work

Pulaski County’s newest government building is costing more than originally thought. Last year, the county purchased the former Winamac Masonic Lodge and has since converted it into the West Annex, housing the Coroner’s Office and Emergency Management Agency.

Pulaski Commissioners Once Again Hold Off on Approving Coroner’s Office Shower Installation

The Pulaski County Commissioners have once again asked for more information, before approving an OSHA-mandated shower installation at the Coroner’s Office. A $1,900 proposal from Action Plumbing was first presented to the commissioners back in July. Maintenance Director Mia Salyers gave some more information during last week’s meeting.

Pulaski County Commissioners Agree to Let Maintenance Department Cancel Mowing Contract

Pulaski County appears to be firing its mowing contractor. It took the county commissioners about four months of discussions before they finally agreed to renew the contract with TK Lawn Service back in May. But last week, they voted to let Maintenance Director Mia Salyers cancel it and give mowing responsibilities back to her employees.

Pulaski County Council to Consider Library Bond, EMS On-Call Pay, Budget Transfers Tonight

The Pulaski County Public Library may be moving ahead with a bond issuance. Library Attorney Justin Schramm is expected to discuss it with the county council tonight. Officials have been working on plans for lead dust and asbestos remediation in nonpublic areas of the Winamac library.

Pulaski County Council, Commissioners to Discuss Courthouse Issues in Special Joint Session Tonight

The future of the Pulaski County Courthouse will be discussed during a special joint county council and commissioners meeting tonight. The meeting notice says officials will discuss options to address needed repairs to the courthouse, potential renovations to the existing buildings, the relocation of county offices, and the various plans to address the concerns with the courthouse.

Pulaski County Once Again Seeking Mowing Bids

The Pulaski County Commissioners have decided to continue outsourcing the lawn care at certain county properties, after all. Last year, the county contracted mowing at certain county properties out to TK Lawn Services. In January, the commissioners decided to rebid the contract for this year, but they decided last month to hold off on awarding the contract until Maintenance Director Mia Salyers could see what it would cost to repair or replace her department’s zero-turn lawnmower.
