O-D School Board Approves Student Handbooks, Tables Athletic Handbook for Further Review

The Oregon-Davis student handbooks won’t see any major changes this year, but the athletic handbook may get some updates. The school board approved the 2019-2020 student handbooks for both the elementary and the junior/senior high schools Monday, according to Superintendent Dr. Don Harman. He says the only changes were the dates, names of staff members, and updated instructional fees.

Oregon-Davis Parents Suggest Partnering with Businesses to Save Money on Facilities Upgrades

As the Oregon-Davis School Corporation considers potential facilities upgrades, some parents are thinking outside the box, to find ways to keep costs down. During a facilities tour Wednesday, Superintendent Dr. Don Harman noted that the baseball field could use a new press box, as well as some other improvements, while the bleachers at the track need a new foundation to help with drainage issues.

Oregon-Davis School Board to Consider Updated High School Administration Recommendation

The Oregon-Davis School Board will make another attempt at selecting high school administrators tonight. Last week, board members narrowly rejected a proposal that would have seen Superintendent Dr. Don Harman add the junior/senior high school principal’s job to his existing duties for the coming school year. Agriculture teacher Andrew Carlin would have become the assistant principal, while newly-hired math teacher Jerry Miller would have served as athletic director.

Oregon-Davis Officials, Parents Consider Ideas to Stop Enrollment Decline

To try to keep the Oregon-Davis School Corporation’s finances in the black, parents are now brainstorming ways to boost enrollment. During a school board work session Wednesday, Superintendent Dr. Don Harman said the pace of the enrollment decline has exceeded the projections he made during the referendum discussions in late 2017.

Some Oregon-Davis Staff Members May Add High School Administrative Duties to Existing Jobs

Monday’s special Oregon-Davis School Board meeting was moved to the high school cafeteria, due to the number of parents and community members in attendance.

Following the departures of Oregon-Davis High School’s principal and assistant principal/athletic director, their duties may be absorbed by some existing staff members. Superintendent Dr. Don Harman presented an administrative restructuring proposal to the school board and dozens of community members Monday.
