Three renovation options, ranging from just under $4.9 million up to almost $8.6 million were recently presented to the county council and commissioners. Council Member Mike Tiede is scheduled to discuss the courthouse with the commissioners tonight.

Pulaski County Commissioners to Award Construction Bid for Ambulance Garage Expansion

The Pulaski County Commissioners are expected to choose a builder for the expansion of the Winamac ambulance garage this morning. Three bids were received for the work, ranging from under $77,000 to more than $221,000. The low bid came from TM Construction of Winamac.

Pulaski County Commissioners to Open Bids for Winamac Ambulance Garage Addition

The Pulaski County Commissioners will open bids for the addition to the Winamac ambulance garage tonight. EMS Director Brandon DeLorenzo told the commissioners last month that the addition will bring the garage up to a total of four bays. The expansion has been discussed for years, since the county’s ambulances can barely fit in the existing space.

The Pulaski County Council and Commissioners are each asking the other group for direction on courthouse security. Last week, the commissioners indicated that they’re ready to act on the issue. But during Monday’s county council meetings, Council Member Kathi Thompson pointed out that it hasn’t been factored into the 2020 budget proposal.

Pulaski County Sheriff Gives More Details About ‘Suspicious Device’ Discovery

More details about the suspicious device that led to the evacuation of two of Pulaski County’s government buildings Friday were shared during Monday’s county council meeting. Sheriff Jeff Richwine said the object was found by maintenance staff as they were emptying the trash bin in the southeast restroom in the courthouse basement.

Pulaski County Sheriff Discusses Courthouse Security Staffing Needs with County Commissioners

After years of discussions, the Pulaski County Commissioners appear to be ready to act on courthouse security. Commissioner Jerry Locke raised the issue with Sheriff Jeff Richwine, during Tuesday’s meeting. “The situation with the courthouse, I’m afraid it might drag on, drag on, drag on, to see what’s going to be done,” Locke explained. “Would it be possible, Jeff, you or some of your people to come up with how many personnel to make our courthouse secure?”
